Whats up with the Ribbon Society in D/P?

I got in the ribbon society in pearl for only 5 ribbons, the effort, hall of fame, cool, cool great, and footprint ribbon on my luxray. i was told i needed 10 ribbons to get in. did i read something wrong, get lucky, or is this a cheat to get in there faster? I'm really confused!
